Even though it's just a couple years younger i've noticed more racks and other accessories available for the 500f. In my general area, it seems i can get a 2013-2014 cb500f for about the same price as 2017 cb300f. I'm a middle aged 'newbie and I picked up a used cb500f with 2600 miles.
The Honda is heavier, it makes practically the same power as the Kawasaki 400’s but won’t feel as quick because it’s heavier. The only other major difference will be sound tbh. The Z400 and CB500 have practically same ergos, Ninja 400 slightly more leaned forward.
The CB500X is light and slim, with a roomy cockpit and nice lower body ergonomics that make the transition from sitting to standing very easy indeed. The KTM is a much more focused machine, with an emphasis on being the best off-road motorcycle this side of a muddy puddle. The suspension plays a big part in this and is provided by WP.
